Introduction
Music has always been a large part of Ricardo's life. In Brooklyn, the summers of his youth were filled with the sounds of block parties and classical latin music from wide-open windows.
In 2001, the fun-filled days of summer turned to year-round hard work and study at The Hit Factory Mastering Studios in New York. Mastering became a passion as he earned a sought-after mentoring position under world-renowned mastering engineer, Herb Powers, Jr., who happened to have worked on most of Ricardo's childhood favorite tunes. It was here that Ricardo also worked alongside Vault Head Engineer, Nathan James.
Ricardo's passion for music and devotion to the science and art of mastering led him to work on a myriad of influential music by headliners Justin Timberlake, Usher, John Legend and The Rolling Stones.
In 2005, with the closing of The Hit Factory, Ricardo took his skills and experiences and opened his own mastering studio, GrandmastersNYC. From Hip-Hop and Dance to Rock and Country, Ricardo uses traditional and precise methods for each of his projects, instead of allowing an assistant a quick plug-in solution.
Today, Ricardo has rejoined forces with Nathan James at The Vault Mastering Studios and we're thrilled to count him in as a part of our growing team of mastering gurus.
